Welcome Address

On behalf of the European Organizing Committee, it is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 12th International Cavitation Symposium – CAV2024, to be hosted at the MΑΙCh Conference Centre in Chania, Greece. The event is chaired by Prof Manolis Gavaises (City, University of London, UK) and Prof Peter Pelz (Darmstadt University, Germany).

The inaugural Cavitation Symposium took place back in 1986 in Sendai, Japan, with a primary focus on the exchange of scientific and engineering knowledge pertaining to cavitation’s applications in naval and turbo-machinery contexts. Following the success of the second symposium in Tokyo in 1994, it was decided to hold the event periodically every three years, rotating between Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Over time, the symposium has expanded to encompass a wide range of industrial and biomedical applications. With a strong international character, CAV2024 is supported by its Governing Board and an international scientific committee. CAV2024 objectives are realized through many keynote lectures by esteemed experts and more than 160 technical/research contributions. Moreover, CAV2024 is sponsored by various companies and industries.

CAV2024 stands out as the premier global platform dedicated to cavitation, bringing together leading scientists and industry experts to deliberate on all aspects covering topics from fundamental principles to practical applications. The symposium offers a unique forum for exploring the latest advancements in theoretical modelling, numerical simulation, and experimentation related to cavitation phenomena. CAV2024 extends an open invitation to researchers and professionals from across the globe to participate in this enriching exchange of knowledge and ideas.
